All Structures are Unstable: The Power of Impermanence

“Once you realize and accept that all structures (forms) are unstable, even the seemingly solid material ones, peace arises within you”. – Eckhart Tolle

Even the most robust structures will crumble. Yet, we often times think with smarter engineers, better materials and processes we will be able to prevent the inevitable; however, all structures will crumble given enough time. Why then, do we purchase insurance, toil day and night to solidify our fortress and essentially run ourselves ragged trying to keep those things bound by form from being destroyed? Would it not be much easier to simply accept that the material items you “own” are already lost? This is in fact the ultimate fate of every material possession you will ever lay your hands on. Eventually, the object and even your Earthly relationships will either leave you or you will leave it, but the outcome is the same, perceived loss.

It is not an object itself that causes great angst, but the attention to said object that will lead one to insanity and drives nations to war.

Instead, I encourage you to canvas every Earthly possession, relationship and the like; acknowledge that it is there and accept that it is already gone. You will find great joy and peace in your material possessions and relationships when you already mentally lose them before they are gone, because eventually they will be.
